Purchasing is one of the most globally integrated departments within Daimler Trucks. As a member of this team candidates have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge within both global and cross-functional team settings. There are multiple advancement and travel opportunities within the department, and each of our team members receives annual training in professional negotiation tactics as well as training courses on various internal DDC functions. This position also provides visibility to senior level leadership within DDC and other companies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Driven, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to analyze, organize and summarize large amounts of data into simple or key terms
  • Advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with project management tools and principles
  • Ability to see the big picture, think strategically
  • Experience with negotiations, contracts and cost structures
  • Understanding of industry landscape and economic issues

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate or renew supplier agreements to purchase critical materials, parts components, tooling or services for DTNA & DDC aftermarket powertrain components.
  • Negotiate the most effective long term programs for DTNA & DDC - including supplier commitments for production pricing that will differentiate our products in the marketplace.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including long term strategic partners.
  • Work with suppliers to achieve cost goals.
  • Negotiate long term agreements with suppliers.
  • Negotiate for exclusive products and services for DTNA & DDC.
  • Participate in the development of long term and global commodity strategies for production and aftermarket suppliers.
  • Evaluate alternative materials, methods, and technologies and alternative suppliers as necessary.
  • Support and monitor results reporting through global business systems.
  • Represent the purchasing team on various projects.
