About The Position

As part of a major new manufacturing facility project, you will play a critical role in managing the procurement strategy for the equipment and services required to support successful project execution. As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will partner closely with engineering and project teams to ensure materials, equipment, and services are sourced efficiently and delivered according to project schedules. You will be involved in the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier sourcing, request for quotation management, commercial evaluations, contract administration, purchase order management, and payment follow-up. Your work will help ensure project milestones are achieved while supporting cost optimization, operational readiness, and the successful delivery of critical infrastructure that contributes to the future of energy.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
  • Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in technical procurement, preferably within an industrial or capital project environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or a comparable ERP system used for procurement activities.
  • Proficiency with MS Project and project scheduling tools.
  • Understanding of procurement contract principles, including Incoterms, warranties, and commercial terms.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications for industrial equipment.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for project-related equipment and services.
  • Act as the key liaison between suppliers and engineering teams to address technical inquiries.
  • Evaluate and compare supplier proposals based on technical, commercial, and contractual requirements.
  • Confirm contract terms and conditions, including delivery schedules, warranties, payment terms, and Incoterms.
  • Develop and maintain procurement schedules aligned with critical project milestones.
  • Monitor purchase orders, deliveries, and supplier payments to ensure project continuity.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and schedule requirements.
  • Partner closely with project engineers and stakeholders to align technical requirements with procurement priorities.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
