About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Strategic Events Manager to lead the strategy, project management, and delivery of high-profile institutional events supported by the President and Vice-President portfolios. This role ensures alignment with strategic priorities, a consistent experience, and measurable impact. The manager will work collaboratively across the University and with external partners to advance university priorities, enhance reputation, and strengthen external engagement. This position serves as a trusted partner, providing strategic guidance and logistical support to deliver purposeful, high-impact event experiences.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in event management with demonstrated experience in managing large, complex, and high-profile events.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to conceptualize, design and execute strategic, results-driven events.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across diverse departments and units.
  • Strong project management and the ability to effectively manage multiple high-profile projects from conception to implementation.
  • Knowledge of event management best practices, as well as Canadian government protocols.
  • Skilled in event budget development and monitoring.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision while being highly productive.
  • Excellent attention to detail in speech and written word.

  • Experience in a University environment with knowledge of University operations and software, databases, and CRM-systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, management and execution of a strategic and purposeful portfolio of high-profile events supported by the Office of the President and Vice Presidents that advance Brock’s reputation and priorities.
  • Conceptualize new and innovative strategies for impactful high-profile executive signature events.
  • Establish clear event objectives and plans, success measures, and KPI’s, considering the entire life cycle of the event and overall impact on Brock.
  • Lead post-event analysis at a portfolio level, identifying trends, impact, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead the overall project management of each event within the portfolio, ensuring delivery aligns with defined objectives and experience standards.
  • Develop comprehensive event plans, including timelines, budgets, logistics and risk management considerations.
  • Manage event budgets, including forecasting, tracking, reconciliation and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate internal and external partners, ensuring clear communication of roles and timelines.
  • Work closely with Brock’s Marketing and Communications office to ensure all aspects of the event are aligned with the Brock brand.
  • Prepare briefing materials and packages for senior leadership and key participants.
  • Ensure all aspects of event follow relevant internal policy and procedures and maintain compliance with FIPPA and AODA requirements.
  • Serve as a central institutional resource on event planning, providing subject matter expertise on event strategy, protocol, and execution to support consistent, high-quality outcomes across campus.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance institutional collaboration for event delivery that support consistency and continuous event planning improvements.
