This role is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of commissioning projects across multiple client sites. The position requires extensive travel to support new project startups and existing commissioning operations, ensuring consistent delivery, compliance, and performance across all contracts. The individual will play a key role in strengthening client relationships, supporting business growth, and driving operational excellence throughout the commissioning lifecycle — from pre-commissioning through system turnover and handover. Please note that this role may require extensive travel and candidates may be required to relocate for a period of 3 to 18 months depending on project needs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing commissioning projects across multiple systems and client sites, including pre-commissioning, functional testing, and system turnover activities.
  • Strong technical understanding of commissioning processes, including loop checks, equipment startup, FAT/SAT procedures, and punch list management.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to mentor and elevate commissioning staff.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management capabilities, with experience coordinating across engineering, construction, and operations teams.
  • Experience managing commissioning contracts, resolving technical and contractual disputes, and supporting business development activities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, including commissioning schedule development, resource management, and turnover package coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple commissioning projects simultaneously and adapt to dynamic project environments.
  • Experience with commissioning reporting, KPIs, punch list tracking, and performance metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical, operational, and contractual challenges in the field.
  • Familiarity with commissioning management systems and documentation control platforms.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and relocate for periods of 3 to 18 months based on project deployment requirements.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the commissioning process.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to new project sites to initiate commissioning contract requirements, establish execution strategies, and build strong client relationships for long-term success.
  • Travel to existing project sites to assess commissioning progress, address performance gaps, and resolve concerns related to current contract delivery.
  • Support single or multiple commissioning project deployments throughout the year based on business and client needs.
  • Maintain oversight and accountability of active commissioning projects, ensuring delivery aligns with contractual obligations, safety standards, and performance metrics.
  • Train and mentor commissioning engineers and technicians to ensure high-quality delivery and technical development across all phases of commissioning.
  • Develop and elevate commissioning engineers and technicians into leadership roles during project deployments.
  • Support the development of subject matter content for commissioning training programs and internal development initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and support across multiple commissioning services contracts when deployed.
  • Ensure the LotusWorks safety culture is implemented and maintained across all assigned commissioning sites in coordination with EHS teams.
  • Ensure delivery of site-specific commissioning contract requirements in alignment with client expectations and system turnover milestones.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain LotusWorks quality standards across all commissioning activities, including punch list management, test packages, and documentation control.
  • Manage commissioning resource planning to ensure adequate staffing and skill sets are applied to meet contract scope and turnover schedules.
  • Conduct site audits to verify contractual compliance, commissioning progress, and quality of delivery.
  • Maintain and nurture client relationships, providing regular feedback on team performance, commissioning milestones, and system readiness.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to align commissioning activities with overall project schedules and handover requirements.
  • Address and resolve issues or disputes related to commissioning scope, contracts, or personnel in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support recruitment efforts for commissioning team expansion and facilitate internal transfers of employees as needed.
  • Support the billing process for active commissioning projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contract terms and milestone deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of RFP response packages for commissioning services opportunities.
  • Support the development and expansion of existing commissioning contracts and client engagements.
  • Support LotusWorks continuous improvement programs and initiatives, including lessons learned and commissioning best practices.
  • Participate in project safety programs and initiatives to reinforce a strong safety culture throughout commissioning execution.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
