The Strategic Buyer will analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, spearhead projects, and foster cross-functional collaboration to achieve successful outcomes. This role will also develop and deploy reports and analytics to guide supply chain planning and decision-making.

Requirements

  • College Degree or 2 to 10 years of equivalent experience
  • Strong Microsoft suite business Acumen
  • Experience with lean/continuous improvement tools and programs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Independent judgment and demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Prior supply chain (purchasing, buying, planning, materials) experience preferred
  • ERP Experience required

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement utilizing problem-solving skills and tools
  • Some day and overnight travel to suppliers and/or company facilities
  • Exception Identification (proactively identify parts that need to be expedited)
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Process non-conforming material reports (NCMR’s) in a timely manner
  • Initiate engineering inquiries and as appropriate submit formal ECN requests
  • Blanket purchase order (BPO) analysis, set-up, maintenance and distribution of new BPO's
  • Pro-actively conduct analysis to determine opportunities to decrease inventory, improve customer service levels, and reduce costs
  • Provide forecast data to key suppliers to support deliveries within required lead-times
  • Initiate, review and analyze supplier price quotations
  • Work with Finance to take advantage of early payment discounts
  • Provide regular performance feedback to assigned preferred, qualified or approved suppliers and assure close-out of corrective action requests
  • Resolve escalated issues between Gorbel and suppliers
  • Possess relevant technical commodity skills to be seen as credible by peers and managers
  • Participate in cross functional make vs. buy decisions and provide recommendations
  • Inform, convince and persuade others to action on key commodity strategy initiatives/objectives
  • Support special projects related to product launches and other supply chain initiatives
  • Achieve excellent results in annual cost improvement, supplier quality/delivery, supplier lead times/minimum order quantities, supplier consolidation and contract coverage with minimal supervision

At Gorbel, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
