Strategic Account Manager | Domestic Oil & Gas

Gecko RoboticsPittsburgh, PA
Hybrid

About The Position

Gecko Robotics is seeking a Strategic Account Manager to cultivate and expand relationships with key oil and gas customers in the United States. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth and transforming initial customer engagements into long-term, multi-site enterprise partnerships. The Strategic Account Manager will operate at the nexus of customer strategy, commercial growth, and cross-functional execution, developing account strategies, managing operational cadences, creating detailed plans, demonstrating measurable value to clients, and coordinating internal teams (delivery, engineering, product, operations, leadership) to achieve desired outcomes. The initial focus will be on a select portfolio of U.S. oil and gas customers, identifying and nurturing potential key accounts for growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience across strategic account management, enterprise sales, consulting, business development, product strategy, or complex program leadership.
  • Demonstrated success growing complex enterprise relationships across multiple sites, functions, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to identify which customer problems and accounts justify concentrated investment.
  • Ability to build account plans, stakeholder maps, value models, commercial narratives, and executive-ready recommendations.
  • Comfort working with technical teams and translating technical work into customer decisions and business outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to navigate difficult stakeholder conversations and align teams without relying on formal authority.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, creating structure, and maintaining urgency in fast-moving environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, with variation based on account needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep oil and gas domain judgment, including experience in refining, midstream, petrochemicals, asset integrity, reliability, turnarounds, inspection, industrial software serving those environments, or adjacent heavy industries, is strongly preferred and more important than general technology-sector experience.
  • Experience helping customers adopt a novel technical or inspection capability and displace established approaches, including in a zero-to-one account or market-development motion.
  • Experience owning large, multi-year strategic accounts or capture motions.
  • Background in engineering or close partnership with engineering, product, or operations teams.
  • Experience quantifying customer value through risk reduction, utilization, cost, capital, or operational outcomes.
  • Experience in a startup, consulting firm, or other environment where the operating model is still being built.

Responsibilities

  • Meet revenue and growth targets for a focused portfolio of high-potential U.S. oil and gas customers by formulating account strategy, owning the operating cadence and sales motion, and rallying cross-functional teams across delivery, engineering, product, operations, and other functions; remain the accountable seller as customers grow into key accounts.
  • Identify and qualify emerging customers based on strategic fit, measurable value potential, stakeholder access, and the opportunity to expand across sites and use cases.
  • Build bottoms-up account plans that connect customer priorities, stakeholders, use cases, value, opportunities, milestones, risks, and resource needs.
  • Develop trusted relationships across site, corporate, technical, commercial, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
  • Translate Gecko's inspections, data, software, and engineering work into measurable customer value, executive narratives, business reviews, and expansion plans.
  • Collaborate closely with Gecko's product and engineering teams, feeding critical customer signal into product roadmaps and engineering decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional capture teams across inside sales, business development, product, engineering, delivery, and operations—while retaining ownership of the sales motion and creating clarity on owners, decisions, dependencies, deadlines, and blockers.
  • Turn successful customer outcomes into repeatable plays that expand across the customer's fleet and inform Gecko's broader U.S. oil and gas strategy.
