The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Stormwater Technician II in our Public Services Department. Under regular direction and in compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, installs and maintains stormwater systems throughout the City. Builds and repairs catch basins, installs storm pipe, and inspects and cleans storm system. Operates a variety of light and heavy-duty equipment, as well as hand tools, in performance of job duties. Set up trenching and shoring as required. Set up laser and transits; make grade shots and set correct percentages. Performs confined space entries when needed. Builds and repairs catch basins to include setting elevations and laying out location; excavates and builds catch basins with brick, block, and cement. Changes out slabs and grates for catch basins. Operates Jet/Vacuum combination truck to jet/vacuum lines and catch basins. Operate Class B CDL equipment such as dump trucks, jet/vacuum combination truck, etc. Frequently requires dealing with emergency situations, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working closely with others as part of a team, tedious or exacting work, and noisy/distracting environment. Sets up traffic control when necessary. Washes road/landscape as needed. Maintains machines and equipment in proper working order. Supports Inclement Weather Operations: works outside of regular schedule, throughout inclement weather conditions (i.e., snow and ice), by operating spreaders, loaders, snowplows, and other specific equipment necessary to clear and maintain roads and walkways. Ensures Workplace Safety: proactively identifies, removes, and/or reports potential safety hazards. Takes steps to address, remove, or report hazardous conditions or items. Complies with City, State, and Federal safety procedures and protocols in the performance of job duties. Ensures equipment and property safety. Using smart phone, tablet and/or computer, completes work orders on a regular basis. Refers to equipment operator's manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, etc. Uses a variety of equipment and tools such as lightweight trucks, shovels, rakes, lawn mower, axes, chain saws, weed eater, and various other supplies in the performance of job duties. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Public Services Supervisor, other City employees, and the public. Performs general administrative tasks as required, including preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, filing records, and answering phones. Participates in required training and continuing education to obtain and maintain certifications and stay current on changes in codes and ordinances. Assists other officers and staff when workload, emergencies, or special assignments require. Stays current on departmental policies, procedures, and processes. Completes work accurately, safely, and efficiently; maintains assigned equipment in good working condition. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area. Identifies and reports suggested improvements or areas of concern to the Supervisor. Ensures professionalism and excellent customer service in all interactions while representing the City of Greer. Demonstrates strong ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability with coworkers, customers, and the community. Supports a culture of results, communication, and professional collaboration within the department and across the organization. Represents the department at community events or meetings when requested by the Supervisor. Adheres to the Employee Handbook and all applicable policies and procedures. Maintains regular, reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.
