The location in Hawesville, (Kentucky, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Storeroom Material Repair Coordinator. This job is full-time permanent. Storeroom Repair & Material Coordinator Position Summary The Storeroom Repair & Material Coordinator reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable mill operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, tracking, repair coordination, and distribution of maintenance parts, materials, and supplies within the mill storeroom. The coordinator acts as a key liaison between purchasing, maintenance, engineering, operations, and external vendors to ensure inventory accuracy, equipment reliability, and uninterrupted production support. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, technical inventory management expertise, supplier relationship management, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment. A strong commitment to workplace safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proven experience in inventory management, storeroom operations, or materials coordination within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP or other enterprise inventory management systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret equipment data, parts specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with inventory control methods, purchasing procedures, and material tracking systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation and supplier relationship management abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical training in supply chain, business, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with maintenance repair operations (MRO) inventory preferred.
  • Experience coordinating repairable inventory and vendor relationships preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all functions related to the receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of maintenance parts, tools, materials, and operating supplies within the mill storeroom.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through proper documentation, cycle counting, and inventory control procedures.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment activities to maintain operational readiness while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Maintain organized storeroom conditions that support efficient retrieval, safe handling, and proper storage of materials.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately entered and maintained within SAP.
  • Coordinate the repair process for all inventory items designated as repairable assets.
  • Communicate with repair vendors to obtain repair status updates, lead times, pricing, and technical information.
  • Track repair cycles to ensure timely return of repaired equipment to inventory.
  • Work closely with Maintenance and Engineering teams to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to repair history, repair costs, and vendor performance.
  • Oversee all Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs for the mill.
  • Create, manage, and maintain VMI purchase orders in SAP.
  • Monitor vendor stocking performance and ensure suppliers maintain agreed inventory levels and service standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews with suppliers to evaluate performance, delivery reliability, and inventory accuracy.
  • Resolve issues involving shortages, discrepancies, damaged materials, or non-compliance with vendor agreements.
  • Coordinate all outgoing shipments of parts and materials leaving the mill, including inter-company transfers and returns to vendors.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation and inventory transfer records.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and transportation requirements for all outbound materials.
  • Coordinate material movement between departments to support maintenance outages, projects, and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations personnel to standardize inventory commodities and improve inventory efficiency.
  • Assist maintenance planners, coordinators, and engineers with material identification, spare parts planning, and project support.
  • Participate in planning meetings and support maintenance shutdowns and capital projects as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the mill and supplier network to support operational goals and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, repair vendors, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Obtain equipment specifications, technical documentation, and pricing information from manufacturers and vendors.
  • Assist with invoice discrepancy resolution and purchasing-related issues.
  • Support negotiations and vendor performance improvement initiatives to maximize value and minimize operational risk.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for storeroom and inventory activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and ethical business practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management, maintenance reliability, and procurement operations.
