About The Position

Responsible for the food, quartermaster, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, automotive and hardware warehousing operations for a correctional facility. It is the function of this position to ensure adequate supplies are ordered, stored, recorded and issued to ensure adequate supplies, materials and equipment are available to staff in the performance of their duties and responsibilities. This position also performs duties as needed in the prisoner store, quartermaster and prisoner property operations of the facility. The Storekeeper 7 supervises prisoner work crews inside and outside the secure perimeter on a regular basis to carry out the assigned duties. This position is also required to meet and comply with MIOSHA, Public Health standards and MDOC policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the storage, handling and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines, and related equipment.
  • Two years equivalent to the Storekeeper E6.
  • Must meet ethical standards and report any possible conflict of interest.
  • Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
  • The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending.
  • Must complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET).
  • Some positions may require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
