About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (CTDOT), is accepting applications for a Storekeeper position within the Bureau of Finance and Administration, Office of Inventory Management. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position on the first shift (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM), located at the Inventory Management Unit - 670 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT. The role involves performing a full range of inventory management duties, both manual and clerical. Responsibilities include receiving daily deliveries, issuing parts, communicating with vendors, maintaining inventory levels, purchasing, time entry, operating fuel station equipment, and general housekeeping. Incumbents must be willing to accept emergency duties, including mandatory winter overtime from November 1 through April 30.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in stock or warehouse work or closely related work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
  • Willingness to accept assignment to emergency duties when required, including snow and ice removal.
  • Mandatory winter overtime occurs from November 1 through April 30 each year.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving daily deliveries
  • Issuing a variety of parts to repair and maintenance facilities

  • Receiving and issuing stock and maintaining records of receipts, requisitions, and stock on hand
  • Arranging stock in a planned fashion, considering age, accessibility, safety, and security
  • Clarifying amount and condition of stock on hand and reporting discrepancies or need for replenishment
  • Verifying quantity and quality of incoming supplies against invoices, dray bills, bills of lading, and orders
  • Maintaining housekeeping and security of the stores area
  • Taking required inventory of materials and supplies
  • Receiving gas station reports and making necessary corrections
  • Keeping mileage and maintenance records of vehicles in car pool
  • Inspecting material handling equipment, scales, gas pumps, and other allied storeroom equipment for accuracy and safety
  • Coding and inventorying furniture and equipment
  • Operating material handling equipment
  • Performing purchasing functions for inventory item stock replenishment
  • Driving motor vehicles as assigned
  • Entering data into a computer
