About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, equipment, and tools. The Storekeeper compiles records of supply transactions, verifies that supplies received match purchase orders and packing slips, and inventories and stores items. This role also involves maintaining inventory control, cataloging documents, inspecting and performing minor maintenance on tools and equipment, and operating various warehouse equipment. The Storekeeper must possess a general working knowledge of supplies and equipment, follow instructions, pay close attention to detail, and communicate effectively. They will perform manual labor, maintain an active work level, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in high places. Productivity and efficiency are expected under minimal supervision, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in team-oriented environments. Tasks are prioritized logically based on changing demands and employee needs. The role may also assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures for storeroom operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience performing duties in a maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) inventory environment.
  • Ability to do manual labor.
  • Ability to use power-operated equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in accordance with the District’s acceptable guidelines.
  • Computer skills to complete inventory control-related assignments.
  • Ability to operate various inventory control-related equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to produce written reports and recommendations concerning supply items, stocking levels, replacement or alternative materials, vendors, cost effectiveness, and related storeroom management issues.
  • Skill in the operation of a tow motor.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to deal courteously with others.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to lift and move short distances equipment and tools weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in elevated locations (rooftops, ladders).

Responsibilities

  • Receives, stores, and issues supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Compiles records of supply transactions.
  • Verifies that supplies received are listed on the purchase order and packing slip.
  • Inventories and stores supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Stocks shelves, verifies supply levels, and assists employees with check-in/check-out of materials.
  • Conducts material assessments, verifies deliveries, and executes material returns.
  • Arranges for transfers; picks up and delivers materials to and from plants.
  • Ensures stock items are properly located and that the stockroom is kept clean.
  • Performs cycle counts.
  • Enters and retrieves information about supplies, inventories, orders, and purchasing information into/from a computer.
  • Maintains inventory control and recordkeeping.
  • Catalogues documents, equipment schematics, and warranty information.
  • Inspects tools and equipment for proper function.
  • Performs minor maintenance on tools.
  • Ensures that tools and equipment are properly cleaned for storage.
  • Calculates basic arithmetic.
  • Follows oral and written instructions.
  • Pays close attention to details.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Operates tow motors, dollies, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Performs manual labor, maintains active work level, and lifts up to 50 lbs.
  • Works in high places (i.e., on a ladder).
  • Observes safe work practices, and knows safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintains productivity and efficiency under minimal supervision and/or while working independently.
  • Works well in collaborative, team-oriented environments.
  • Prioritizes tasks logically based upon changing demands and employee needs.
  • Assists with the development of Standard Operating Procedures for storeroom operation.
