About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Store Manager, the Store Perishable Manager manages the produce, fresh meat, packaged meats, dairy, frozen food, bread, and thaw-and-sell bakery departments. The role assists the Store Manager with inventory management, merchandise presentation, customer service, workplace safety, protection of company assets, and compliance with food-handling rules and regulations. The position supports the Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity, following company procedures, keeping perishable inventory at appropriate levels, training associates, recording markdowns and inventory, addressing customer needs, and maintaining sanitation standards. Other operational duties may be assigned by the Store Manager. The posting strongly prefers a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of retail experience, and six months of supervisory experience. Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience is preferred. Required local and state food-handling certifications must be obtained if applicable. Relocation assistance is not available. Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages.
Ability to learn and perform cash-register functions to generate reports.
Ability to review operating statements and identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, shrink, and errors.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Good organization skills and attention to detail.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Understanding of safety policies and practices.
Ability to read and follow planograms and merchandise-presentation guidance.
Willingness and ability to comply with company policies and procedures.
Ability and willingness to obtain required food-handling certifications.
High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
One year of retail experience and six months of supervisory experience preferred.
Required local and state food-handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager with financial integrity through cash accountability, key control, and adherence to security and cash-control procedures.
Follow company policies and procedures and assist the Store Manager in ensuring employee compliance.
Maintain perishable stock levels based on store volume using the specified ads, planners, order guides, sales histories, and planning tools.
Assist in training associates on presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe food-handling standards for perishable departments.
Train associates in proper stocking and rotation of perishable products.
Record perishable markdowns, analyze their causes, and take corrective action to prevent recurrence.
Train associates in produce grading and repackaging standards to minimize markdowns.
Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
Help ensure customer needs and requests are addressed efficiently and promptly; maintain daily contact with customers to understand merchandise expectations and preferences.
Help ensure sanitation compliance and train assigned associates using the Cleaning Schedule.
Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
