About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role ensures the store is properly staffed, opens and closes effectively, and follows company policies and procedures. The manager leads customer service, maintains a clean, organized, safe, and secure store, and completes required paperwork and documentation according to deadlines. The position involves regular walking and standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling, along with some handling and lifting of merchandise and equipment. Work takes place in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise, with occasional exposure to outdoor weather, hazardous cleaning solutions, and freezer conditions. The manager regularly drives their own vehicle to meetings, other stores, and to make deposits.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash-register functions and generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and company policies, and ensure the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, address performance gaps through appropriate solutions or counseling, and recommend termination when warranted.
Recommend employee pay rates and advancement.
Regularly communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations, and coordinate meetings and events to promote safety, security, and policy compliance.
Ensure the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day; open at least twice per week and close at least twice per week.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, sales and profitability issues, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory issues weekly; and follow up on BSR and cycle counts.
Oversee merchandise staging, stocking, and storage according to company work processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership for superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, well-organized store and a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
