About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing all employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role oversees employee hiring, training, performance, and compliance; store operations, inventory, merchandising, and financial controls; customer service; and the maintenance of a clean, organized, safe store. The manager must open the store at least twice per week and close it at least twice per week, and complete required paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash handling, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to walk or stand frequently; bend, stoop, and kneel frequently; handle merchandise and equipment; lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds; and occasionally climb a step ladder to heights of six feet.

Nice To Haves

One year of management experience in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and company policies, and ensure the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling, up to and including termination.
Recommend employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events concerning safety, security, and policies.
Ensure the store is staffed and opened and closed effectively each day; personally open at least twice per week and close at least twice per week.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Manage ordering and in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory issues weekly; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate efficient merchandise staging, stocking, and storage in accordance with company processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper fixture use, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store's financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, well-organized store and a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
