About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing store employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role ensures the store is properly staffed, operating effectively, compliant with Company policies, financially secure, clean, and safe, while providing strong customer service leadership. The manager opens the store at least twice per week and closes it at least twice per week. The position involves frequent walking or standing and bending, stooping, and kneeling; handling merchandise and equipment; lifting up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds; and regular driving of the employee’s own vehicle for meetings, visits to other stores, and deposits. The work environment is fast-paced with moderate noise, occasional outdoor weather exposure, hazardous cleaning solutions, extreme cold in freezers, and occasional step-ladder climbing to six feet.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash register functions to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and Company policies, and ensure appropriate staffing.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide appropriate solutions or counseling, up to and including termination.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to promote safety, security, and policy compliance.
Ensure the store is properly staffed and opened and closed effectively each day; open at least twice per week and close at least twice per week.
Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory issues weekly; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate efficient merchandise staging, stocking, and storage by following Company work processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide customer service leadership.
Maintain a clean, organized store and a safe, secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow Company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
