About The Position

Responsible for managing all employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The Store Manager ensures the store is properly staffed, opened and closed each day, and operated in accordance with company policies and procedures. The role includes regular opening and closing shifts, inventory and financial controls, employee training and performance management, customer service leadership, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized store.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash-register functions and generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety-control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and company policies, and ensure the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling, up to and including termination.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events that encourage safety, security, and policy compliance.
Ensure the store is effectively opened and closed each day; personally open the store at least twice per week and close it at least twice per week.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, including sales, profitability, and inventory turn, as well as expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Place orders to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory management issues weekly; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate merchandise staging, stocking, and storage in accordance with company work processes.
Ensure merchandise is presented according to established practices, using fixtures properly and maintaining product pricing and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized store and a safe, secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools necessary to perform required tasks.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
