About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing all employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role oversees staffing and employee development, store operations, inventory and merchandise presentation, financial controls, customer service, safety, and compliance with Company policies and procedures. The position also requires opening and closing the store, including opening at least twice weekly and closing at least twice weekly.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash-register functions and generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory-management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety-control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organization skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and Company policies, and ensure the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling up to and including termination.
Recommend employee pay rates and advancement.
Regularly communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations, and coordinate meetings and events that promote safety, security, and policy compliance.
Ensure the store is effectively opened and closed each day; personally open at least twice per week and close at least twice per week.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory issues weekly; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate efficient staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise according to Company processes.
Ensure merchandise is presented according to established practices and that fixtures, pricing, and signage are used appropriately.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, well-organized store and a safe, secure work and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow Company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
