About The Position

The Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and other store needs. The position provides interactive development for an external candidate for the Store Manager role and is intended to be held for a limited period. The role supports store operations and customer service, including merchandising, inventory control, ordering, cash handling, security, store opening and closing, and maintaining a clean and safe store. The candidate operates the store in the Store Manager’s absence and reviews operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities for expense control.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
Ability to learn and perform cash register functions, including functions needed to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Proficient interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle varied situations where limited standardization exists.
Valid driver’s license.
Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
Facilitate or participate in merchandising, staging, stocking, and storing merchandise; ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices and Store Manager direction; and properly use merchandise fixtures, signing, and pricing.
Assist with inventory management, including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, facility controls, and conducting inventories.
Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Model compliance with Company procedures and policies in the employee handbook, SOP manual, and Company communications.
Participate in store opening and closing activities.
Ensure Company funds are deposited safely in the designated bank.
Help maintain the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures.
Help maintain clean, well-stocked stores and provide a safe environment for customers and employees.
Operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Review operating statements for trends in sales, labor, profitability, and inventory turn, as well as expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
