About The Position

The Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and other store needs. The position provides interactive development for an external candidate for the Store Manager role and is intended to be held for a limited period.

The role may operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence and supports customer service, merchandising, inventory and financial controls, store safety and cleanliness, and completion of required documentation. The work takes place in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and includes frequent physical activity, occasional exposure to weather and cleaning solutions, and possible exposure to slippery floors and freezer temperatures. Regular driving of the employee’s own vehicle is required for meetings, visits to other stores, and deposits.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform cash register functions, including those needed to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
• Proficient interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems and handle varied situations where limited standardization exists.
• Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, including staging, stocking, storage, presentation, and proper use of fixtures, signage, and pricing.
• Assist with inventory management, including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, facility controls, and conducting inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
• Model adherence to Company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure Company funds are deposited at the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures.
• Assist in maintaining clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
