About The Position

The Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and other store needs. The role fosters interactive development of an external candidate for the Store Manager role and is intended to be held for a limited period. The position involves supporting store operations and customer service, maintaining merchandise presentation and inventory, protecting store funds and assets, and operating the store in the Store Manager’s absence. The work takes place in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and includes frequent physical activity and handling merchandise and equipment.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
Ability to learn and perform cash register functions, including functions used to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Proficient interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle varied situations where limited standardization exists.
Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
Assist with merchandising, including staging, stocking, and storing merchandise; presenting merchandise according to established practices and manager direction; and properly using fixtures, signage, and pricing.
Assist with inventory management, including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, and facility controls; prepare and conduct inventories.
Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
Provide leadership in superior customer service.
Model compliance with Company procedures and policies in the employee handbook, SOP manual, and Company communications.
Participate in store opening and closing activities.
Ensure Company funds are safely deposited at the designated bank.
Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures.
Assist in maintaining clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
Operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
