About The Position

The Store Environment Team Member maintains the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards to deliver Michaels’ Brand Promises. The role includes providing friendly customer service and helping customers shop and find what they need. The position cleans assigned store areas, including high-traffic spaces such as bathrooms, breakrooms, and entryways. Duties include collecting and disposing of trash, dusting and damp-mopping floors, moving products and equipment for cleaning, and preparing cleaning solutions when required. Team members keep cleaning equipment orderly, monitor supply needs, take initiative to identify cleaning tasks, and complete assignments in accordance with applicable guidelines and company standards. Other assigned duties may include checkout and cash handling, promoting Rewards and Private Label Credit Card programs, supporting Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes, truck unloading, stocking, planograms, and shrink and safety programs. The role is performed in a public retail store, with some stockroom or outdoor work possible. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to remain standing for long periods.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Ability to work in a public retail setting; some stockrooms may not be climate controlled, and some outdoor work may be assigned.
Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Use standard commercial cleaners and chemicals from cleaning supplies.
Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

Maintain store cleanliness, recovery, and overall appearance to meet Brand Promises.
Provide friendly customer service and help customers shop and locate products.
Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
Dust and damp-mop floors according to approved procedures.
Move equipment and products to clean areas and return products to their correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment.
Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents when required.
Deep clean bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor of supply needs in advance.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by a supervisor and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations.
Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
As assigned, provide fast and friendly checkout service and handle cash according to standards.
As assigned, explain Rewards and Private Label Credit Card benefits to customers and complete enrollments.
As assigned, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes.
As assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Support shrink and safety programs.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
