Store Detective - PT Nights and Weekends

About The Position

The Store Detective helps ensure a safe and secure environment for customers, team members, and vendors. The role investigates internal and external theft, including organized retail crime activity, and supports Asset Protection and safety through proactive and preventive practices that enhance profitability. The position conducts inspections and surveillance, reviews reports and security systems, documents incidents, and may participate in apprehensions and prosecutions related to external theft. It also includes testifying in criminal or civil court proceedings and following all safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies. The role is part-time and scheduled for nights and weekends.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in security or at least 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot to identify potential hazards and ensure they are mitigated.
Conduct walking inspections of the backroom and sales floor.
Review cashier exception reports.
Conduct internal theft surveillance.
Review theft activity reports and follow up as necessary.
Conduct shoplifting surveillance.
Report safety hazards to Store Leadership so they can be addressed.
Test and inspect camera equipment to ensure effective operation.
Review the alarm system printer for suspicious activity.
Participate in apprehending people in violation of the law and assist in prosecuting external theft cases.
Complete required documentation and write incident reports that include pertinent facts and incident history that may be needed for litigation.
Testify in criminal and/or civil court proceedings.
Adhere to all safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies, including 200% safety accountability.
Perform other duties as required.
