About The Position

The Store Detective helps ensure a safe and secure environment for customers, team members, and vendors. The role investigates internal and external theft, including Organized Retail Crime activity, and supports asset protection and safety through proactive and preventive practices that enhance profitability. The position also involves documenting incidents, participating in apprehensions, and testifying in court proceedings.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least 6 months of security experience or at least 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot to identify potential hazards and ensure they are mitigated.
Conduct walking inspections of the backroom and sales floor.
Review cashier exception reports.
Conduct internal theft surveillance.
Review theft activity reports and follow up as necessary.
Conduct shoplifting surveillance.
Report safety hazards to Store Leadership so they can be addressed.
Test and inspect camera equipment to ensure effective operation.
Review the alarm system printer for suspicious activity.
Participate in apprehending people in violation of the law and assist with prosecution of external theft cases.
Complete required documentation and incident reports, including pertinent facts that may be required for litigation.
Testify in criminal or civil court proceedings.
Adhere to safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies, and practice 200% safety accountability.
Perform other duties as required.
