About The Position

The Store Detective helps ensure a safe and secure environment for customers, team members, and vendors. The role investigates internal and external theft, including Organized Retail Crime (ORC), and supports Asset Protection and safety through proactive and preventive activities that enhance profitability. The Store Detective also seeks best practices and continuous improvement in Asset Protection and safety.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience in security or at least 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot to identify and help mitigate potential hazards.
• Conduct walking inspections of the backroom and sales floor.
• Review cashier exception reports.
• Conduct internal theft surveillance.
• Review theft activity reports and follow up as necessary.
• Conduct shoplifting surveillance.
• Report safety hazards to Store Leadership for resolution.
• Test and inspect camera equipment to ensure effective operation.
• Review the alarm system printer for suspicious activity.
• Participate in apprehensions of people in violation of the law and assist with prosecution of external theft cases.
• Complete required documentation and incident reports, ensuring incident histories include pertinent facts that may be required for litigation.
• Testify in criminal and/or civil court proceedings.
• Follow all safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies.
• Practice 200% safety accountability.
• Perform other duties as required.
