About The Position

Town Pump is seeking a motivated, outgoing Store Clerk to provide customer service and support the day-to-day operation of the store. The position involves cash handling and accounting; stocking, pricing, rotating, and displaying merchandise; maintaining cleanliness and safety inside and outside the store; and supporting deli food sales and cooking. Store Clerks also operate computerized cash registers, assist customers, monitor store security, complete shift and vendor procedures, and maintain food-service and beverage areas. The posting notes that clerks in smaller locations perform deli duties described in a separate deli job description.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and handle cash and accounting tasks.
Operate a computerized cash register, give correct change, scan credit cards, accept and process checks, and bag merchandise.
Recognize regular customers, answer and screen phone calls, monitor the store, detect shoplifting, and listen to and handle customer complaints.
Stock shelves and coolers; price, rotate, and display merchandise.
Complete shift work accurately and effectively, clean and maintain all areas of the store, and complete vendor check-in procedures.
Complete the protocol system and drive-off controls, and advise the store manager of situations or policy violations that adversely affect store operating performance.
Maintain store safety and security and perform housekeeping inside and outside the store.
Sweep the lot, shovel snow, clean gas pumps, and fill water and cleaning-solution buckets on islands.
Keep hot dog roller, nacho and popcorn machines, condiment center, coffee, and fountain dispenser areas clean, filled, and stocked.
Perform deli duties at smaller locations, as described in the deli job description.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
