About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in picking up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse/store. The role also involves assisting the Truck Driver with navigation, ensuring the accountability, security, and safety of donations in route, and helping maintain the vehicle. Additionally, the Store Clerk & Truck Helper assists store customers with donations, selections, and purchases, operates a cash register, answers customer questions, maintains store display cleanliness and orderliness, and ensures the security of store items and the cash register.

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D.
Six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture.
1 year experience working in a retail store.
Six months working on a cash register.
Valid State Driver's License may be required.

Responsibilities

Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse/store.
Assists in navigating for the Truck Driver.
Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route.
Assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards.
Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items.
Operates and maintains a cash register.
Responds to customer’s questions.
Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays.
Ensures the security of store items and the cash register.
Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items.
Assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.
Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck.
Packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.
Places and arranges items in the store as directed.
Checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner.
Rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed.
Returns items to the proper location after customer's have handled.
Maintains the neatness and security of the cash register area.
Ensures that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked.
