About The Position

As the Store Associate, you will help facilitate the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Thrift Store, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Must complete mandatory Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
Able to interact positively with the public and with donors.
Able to work well as part of a team.
Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds
May require bending, squatting, walking.
May require standing for extended periods
Position may require occasional travel for training.

Nice To Haves

Experience in retail marketing and sales preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet potential customers being friendly, responsive, and helpful.
Assist donors, potential donors, and shoppers in a friendly respectful manner. Receive donations and provide receipts for donated goods to the donor.
Sort, clean, display, store, and price donated items according to store procedures. There will be specific attention to seasonal items and bric-a-brac.
Keep the sorting, storage and receiving areas clean and orderly. Make sure floors are swept clean and clear of debris, and trash is disposed of properly.
Pull, remove, and recycle expired color of the week items according to store procedures.
Assist with the bailing operation. Training and familiarity with the baler will be part of orientation. Heavy lifting is required.
Learn and adhere to store policies and procedures.
