About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Storage Engineer to design, deploy, and operate enterprise storage platforms supporting compute, virtualization, database, and Kubernetes workloads. The role covers block, file, and object storage across data center, edge, and cloud environments, with emphasis on performance, data protection, and cost optimization. The position requires experience operating heterogeneous storage estates at scale, understanding diverse workload storage needs, and applying automation to storage engineering work. This is a 100% remote, full-time, direct W-2 position with Bright Vision Technologies, working on the company’s in-house, long-term Statement of Work engagement. It is not a third-party placement and does not support C2C or 1099 arrangements. The salary range is $100,000–$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits. No new H-1B sponsorship is available; qualified candidates with a valid H-1B may apply for a transfer. A technical coding assessment is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of enterprise storage engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in NetApp ONTAP or Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade.
  • Hands-on Ceph experience at production scale.
  • Strong understanding of SAN, NAS, and object storage protocols.
  • Experience integrating storage with VMware and Kubernetes (CSI).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Ansible, Terraform, or REST APIs.
  • Strong understanding of storage performance, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across storage, network, and host layers.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Candidates must be willing to work directly as a full-time W-2 employee of Bright Vision Technologies.
  • Candidates must be confident in their technical abilities and hands-on experience and complete a mandatory technical coding assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Vendor certifications such as NCDA, NCIE, or Pure Storage certifications.
  • Experience with hybrid-cloud storage replication.
  • Familiarity with software-defined storage platforms beyond Ceph.
  • Experience with object storage at petabyte scale.
  • Exposure to AI/ML workloads with extreme I/O requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate enterprise storage platforms using NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade, and Ceph.
  • Implement and manage SAN, NAS, and object storage across data center and cloud environments.
  • Build storage solutions for VMware, Kubernetes using CSI drivers, and database workloads.
  • Design and operate replication, snapshot, and backup strategies for critical data.
  • Implement and operate cloud-tiered storage using FabricPool, CloudVolumes, or equivalent technologies.
  • Build storage automation using Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, and platform-native automation.
  • Operate Ceph clusters, including OSD lifecycle, CRUSH maps, RGW, RBD, and CephFS.
  • Design and operate storage performance management for high-throughput and latency-sensitive workloads.
  • Implement data protection strategies, including ransomware protection and immutable snapshots.
  • Build storage observability for capacity, performance, and health, enabling early detection of capacity pressure, performance regressions, and failing components.
  • Lead storage upgrades, firmware lifecycle management, and security patching while maintaining availability for dependent workloads.
  • Optimize storage costs through deduplication, compression, and tiering strategies.
  • Troubleshoot complex storage issues across array, network, and host layers.
  • Monitor storage industry developments, review release notes and community discussions, and develop recommendations and adoption proposals for the team.
