About The Position

The Stocker II provides exceptional customer service by accurately ordering products to replenish inventory and helping maintain a well-stocked, clean, organized, and successful department. The role includes placing and managing orders, maintaining department inventory and presentation, communicating with customers and staff, and supporting receiving and inventory activities. The Stocker II follows the Co-op’s core values, policies, communications, and emergency procedures, and adapts to changing job requirements.

Requirements

At least 1 year of stocking experience.
Ability to stand or sit for several hours at a time; regularly lift up to 50 pounds alone and 75 pounds with assistance using safe lifting techniques; twist, turn, squat, bend, perform repetitive motions, read fine print and a computer screen for extended periods, and climb a ladder.
Ability to handle and touch different kinds of food.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that may involve wet, humid, cold, or outdoor weather conditions.
Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as internet research skills.
Ability to produce quality work within established deadlines.
Retail or other experience serving the public.
Experience with and thorough knowledge of natural foods; familiarity with organic and non-GMO products.
Enjoyment of interacting with and serving the public; friendly, outgoing personality and positive attitude.
Ability to handle multiple demands and remain calm.
Accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and methodical work habits.
Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, logical problem-solving ability, and conflict-resolution skills.
Reliability for regularly scheduled shift work and ability to work a flexible schedule.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date records.

At least 1 year of retail ordering experience.
Previous receiving experience.
Experience with digital receiving methods.
Experience with food cooperatives.

Responsibilities

Follow EEFC’s Core Values and Co-op policies, including those in the Employee Handbook.
Provide exemplary customer service to customers and staff; communicate information about the Co-op and how to become a member.
Maintain familiarity with the store layout, products, services, and emergency procedures.
Stay current with storewide and departmental communications, policies, notices, and logs.
Place departmental orders by appropriate deadlines and optimize stock levels while minimizing out-of-stocks and maintaining inventory turns.
Ensure adequate supplies of promotional and seasonal items; coordinate new, seasonal, and discontinued items with the department Coordinator.
Work with the supervisor to improve ordering skills and troubleshooting techniques.
Share customer requests, product issues, and other relevant department information with the Coordinator.
Obtain vendor credits as assigned and help manage damages, shortages, expired products, inaccurate deliveries, and returns.
Review invoices for accuracy before submitting them to the finance department, and communicate credit or invoice issues to finance.
Help maintain attractive, fully stocked, fronted, rotated, clean, and organized department sections and backstock; stock products safely and accurately as assigned.
Keep accurate shrink records and calculate shrink extensions as assigned.
Participate in quarterly inventory counts and calculate inventory extensions as assigned.
Perform backup receiving duties when assigned by the Stockroom Supervisor or when that supervisor is absent.
Provide feedback for annual sales, margin, and inventory-turn goals.
Perform other assigned tasks.
