This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. The Test & Evaluation Engineer provides technical T&E support to U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) by designing, planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting on test activities that assess the performance, security, and reliability of systems, subsystems, and equipment. This position supports both U.S. and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) efforts, ensuring systems are thoroughly evaluated, validated, and ready for delivery to Host Nation partners. The engineer applies DoD test methodologies, supports security‑focused assessments, and develops documentation required to verify system readiness and adherence to SOCOM operational requirements. This requisition supports hiring multiple positions and experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skill sets. Requirements

  • Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting SOCOM, DoD T&E programs, FMS efforts, or similar defense test environments.
  • Knowledge of DoD Test & Evaluation processes, documentation standards, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Experience developing test plans, validation procedures, and test artifacts such as procedures, checklists, and technical reports.
  • Ability to perform laboratory‑based testing, evaluate component performance, and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
  • Experience analyzing test data and presenting results clearly to government and contractor stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with system security testing, verification, and validation practices.
  • Ability to interpret system requirements and translate them into comprehensive test objectives and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, including system updates, ICDs, test reports, and configuration records.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to brief technical findings to SOCOM, SCOs, and Mission Partners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams, government personnel, and test facility staff.
  • Must possess and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting special operations systems, tactical mission equipment, or FMS system deliveries.
  • Knowledge of DoD system security engineering, cybersecurity test concepts, or security architecture validation.
  • Experience working at government test facilities or supporting formal developmental/operational test events.
  • Familiarity with RF, communications, electronic systems, or software‑based mission systems under test.
  • Experience developing improved T&E methodologies or automated data collection techniques.
  • Engineering certifications or specialized training in DoD T&E or system validation disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Apply DoD Test & Evaluation (T&E) processes in the design, planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of system and subsystem tests.
  • Conduct T&E activities to verify system performance, including security evaluations of developed capability variants.
  • Document updates and refinements made to initial equipment designs, security architectures, and system configurations as development matures.
  • Develop detailed test plans, validation plans, and procedures for systems and system components.
  • Perform laboratory tests to validate component performance, product quality, and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Analyze test data, interpret results, and provide recommendations to SOCOM, Security Cooperation Offices (SCO), and Mission Partners.
  • Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues observed during testing events.
  • Validate and implement product solutions, documenting findings in clear, technically accurate reports.
  • Develop improved test methodologies, procedures, and data collection techniques.
  • Support the development and execution of Government Test Plans conducted at DoD test facilities, including security test and validation activities jointly performed with U.S. Government personnel.
  • Ensure all test activities follow DoD standards, SOCOM requirements, and applicable security considerations.
