About The Position

The Stewarding Shift Manager is responsible for assisting the Executive Steward in the operations of the Stewarding Department, including sanitation, inventory ordering, purchasing, banquets, work scheduling, payroll, labor reports, and office administrative duties. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years food and beverage supervisory experience.
  • Must have general knowledge of all phases of full service dining.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, coaching, team building and problem solving skills required.
  • Must be computer literate, including a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications as well as restaurant automated systems.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and move through all areas of the casino.
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
  • Moderate physical activity is required along with the handling of objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to physical risk, which requires following basic safety precautions.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling and providing adequate labor coverage in all outlets while working within established labor payroll guidelines.
  • Maintain orderly handling of banquet prospectus sheets and banquet weekly/monthly forecast sheets. Plan correct labor coverage and provide efficient & consistent execution of banquets.
  • Maintain sanitation of all food prep and food storage areas to meet or exceed health department requirements. Ensure general organization of kitchen and storage areas throughout all kitchens.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing throughout the facility, from front to back.
  • Train all associates to perform their job duties to meet or exceed performance objectives for their position; provide necessary tools and supplies.
  • Evaluate and direct personnel, providing disciplinary action when needed.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings.
  • Maintain constant control of situations, including handling guest complaints, employee complaints, and other encountered problems.
  • Report any incidents to appropriate Supervisors.
  • Assure prompt, professional service to all guests.
  • Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, filing, personnel maintenance, and HR issues.
  • Advise the Executive Steward of daily problems and needs, utilizing all available resources.
  • Complete daily reports, including the Daily Manager Report and any Incident Reports.
  • Prepare necessary paperwork and order supplies and equipment needed for an efficient, customer-oriented operation.
  • Communicate regularly with associates, keeping them informed on all Casino Activities and events. Act as a liaison between management and associates.
  • Ensure that staff behavior and appearance comply with established standards.
  • Share accountability for achieving cost goals, labor, and expenses.
  • Evaluate staff performance on a ninety (90) day and annual basis.
  • Transport and deliver all equipment and food for off-site catering events.
  • Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy. Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
  • Attend all necessary meetings.

  • Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.
