About The Position

The Sterilization Technician at Affiliated Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is responsible for overseeing the inventory and distribution of equipment and supplies, ensuring the cleanliness and proper processing of reusable instrumentation and equipment, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standard operating procedures. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with a team while maintaining professionalism in a potentially stressful environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of OSHA and state regulations
  • Knowledge of the English language – composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Skilled in the use of standard office equipment including telephones, calculators, copiers, fax, computers, and computer software (MS Excel, Word, Practice Management software)
  • Ability to instill trust from the doctors, co-workers, and patients
  • Ability to work cooperatively with management, staff, and patients
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas competently
  • Ability to quickly grasp relevant concepts regarding duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inventory and distribution of equipment and supplies.
  • Control inventory, reorder supplies, and check expiration dates.
  • Inspect, disassemble, sort, clean, and process reusable instrumentation and equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and make process adjustments.
  • Maintain current training status on all applicable standard operating procedures.
  • Create processes and tools for mobile use of GIS for data collection and consumption.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the department and all processing equipment.
  • Unload supplies, ensuring items are not compromised and stored in correct locations.
  • Support implementation of new technology for process execution and/or analysis.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism when exposed to stressful situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
