About The Position
The Sterilization Technician collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and/or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure supplies and equipment are sterile and functioning. The role also supports patient services, including taking blood pressure, obtaining dental radiographs, documenting medical histories, and providing post-operative care instructions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- X-Ray Certification.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to attend to multiple tasks and prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet established deadlines and protocols.
Nice To Haves
- BLS Certification.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms according to prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Take and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure and respiration rate.
- Take dental radiographs and prepare prescriptions.
- Maintain inventory of sterilization supplies.
- Enter patient treatment information into the computer and prepare consent forms for surgery and anesthesia.
- Provide patients with post-operative care instructions.
- Schedule patients’ next appointments.
- Maintain equipment and instruments through proper care, cleaning, and sterilization.
- Follow office education and protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and conduct oneself professionally.
- Comply with OSHA infection-control policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
