About The Position

A leading healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role also supports Operating Room functions by assembling case carts based on physician preference cards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • National Certification: CRCST or CBSPD
  • BLS Certification (AHA required)
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in sterile processing or instrument handling
  • Completion of Central Processing course or at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of detergents, disinfectants, and sterilization processes
  • Experience with sterilization recordkeeping and computerized tracking systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 60 lbs., and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work every other weekend
  • Availability to work 3 out of 6 holidays
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts based on department needs

Responsibilities

  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment
  • Prepare and assemble case carts for surgical procedures using physician preference guidelines
  • Operate sterilization equipment including Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris systems
  • Perform biological testing and Bowie-Dick tests to ensure sterilization effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation
  • Follow Universal Precautions and proper PPE usage at all times
  • Communicate effectively with OR staff regarding missing instruments or supply needs
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and infection control standards
