About The Position

This Sterile Processing Technician position supports a high-acuity academic medical center environment with extensive surgical service lines. The technician is responsible for comprehensive sterile instrument reprocessing, including decontamination, prep and pack, steam and low-temperature sterilization, and GI endoscope reprocessing. The role requires flexibility with scheduling, including every other weekend and designated holiday coverage. The technician must be proficient across multiple surgical specialties including robotics, cardiac, neuro, ortho spine, ENT, plastics, urology, and laparoscopic services. Strong familiarity with complex instrumentation, DaVinci Robot Xi systems, loaner trays, and high-level disinfection processes is required.

Requirements

  • Active CRCST (HSPA) certification required; no alternative primary certifications accepted
  • At least five years of sterile processing experience
  • One year of experience in a Level I academic medical center with 20+ ORs
  • A minimum of two prior travel assignments (13 weeks each) required
  • Demonstrate competency in all core sterile processing functions
  • Demonstrate competency in Olympus scope handling
  • Demonstrate competency in washer operations
  • Demonstrate competency in robotic instrumentation management

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certifications such as CER, CIS, or CHL are preferred
