About The Position
A healthcare facility in Machias, ME is seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to support Operating Room services by ensuring proper decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Requirements
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Certified Endoscope Re-processor (CER)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments using gas and steam autoclaves
- Conduct and document daily biological and chemical testing of sterilization equipment
- Inspect autoclaves for proper operation and identify visible malfunctions
- Assemble, wrap, and prepare surgical instrument trays for sterilization
- Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and processing instruments and equipment
- Clean and sterilize endoscopy scopes
- Apply aseptic techniques in all assigned tasks
- Store processed supplies and equipment according to established protocols
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation
- Assist with training and onboarding of new staff
- Receive, distribute, and manage surgical supply requisitions
- Order departmental supplies as needed
- Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives
- Comply with safety policies, Code of Conduct, and all regulatory requirements
