About The Position

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting multiple Sterile Processing Technicians to support the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center located at 2002 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, TX 77030. Coverage is includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience (surgical technician experience may substitute)
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to independently: Decontaminate and assemble surgical instruments for multiple specialties (e.g., General, Ortho, CV, Neuro, Urology, ENT) Operate sterilization and tracking systems used in hospital SPS departments.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and reprocessing of reusable medical equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency (data entry, Microsoft Office, hospital software systems).

  • All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist Lift up to 20 lbs Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance Push/pull with 30 lbs of force

Nice To Haves

  • HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) certification preferred.
  • CPSPD certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions, AAMI standards, and VA policies.
  • Perform high‑level disinfection (HLD) and reprocessing of endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical (MIS) equipment.
  • Operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washers, steam and low‑temperature sterilizers, and automated endoscope reprocessors.
  • Assemble instrument trays accurately per count sheets and perform second checks for quality assurance.
  • Prepare and stage case carts for scheduled, add‑on, and emergency surgical cases.
  • Maintain sterile storage areas, inventory organization, and restocking of supplies.
  • Accurately use instrument tracking systems for all processes.
  • Receive, inventory, and track loaner instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain required logs (AER, cleaning, maintenance).
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections, minor repairs, and functional checks on instruments and MIS equipment.
  • Identify damaged or malfunctioning equipment and coordinate with SPS and Biomedical departments.
  • Follow infection control, OSHA, safety, and VA regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Complete required VA training modules, competencies, and certifications.
  • Communicate professionally with OR staff, SPS leadership, and clinical teams.
