About The Position

A healthcare facility in Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support Surgical Services during night shift operations. The SPT will be responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and quality assurance of surgical instruments and trays used in the Operating Room and other clinical departments.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a nationally accredited Central Service Technician exam OR Minimum one (1) year of employment as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility
• Ability to pass pre-employment health clearance

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Central Service Technician preferred/required per facility guidelines

Responsibilities

• Perform safe and effective decontamination and disinfection of surgical instruments
• Wash, inspect, assemble, and package simple and complex surgical trays
• Operate sterilization equipment including: Steam sterilizers Steris systems Sterrad systems
• Monitor and document sterilization cycles and quality assurance checks
• Apply aseptic technique and infection prevention standards
• Respond to urgent and emergent instrument requests from clinical staff
• Maintain accuracy and reliability in quality control processes
