About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations by ensuring the proper decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of sterilization processes, infection control standards, and experience working in fast-paced healthcare environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Sterile Processing experience.
  • Completion of a Central Processing course or at least 1 year of instrument processing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including: Every other weekend
  • Ability to work 3 out of 6 holidays (as required)
  • Physical ability to: Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Physical ability to: Push/pull up to 60 lbs
  • Physical ability to: Stand for extended periods (entire shift)
  • Active certification: CRCST or CBSPD / CBSPDT

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assembling Operating Room case carts.
  • Background in high-volume sterile processing departments.
  • Familiarity with computerized instrument tracking systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment.
  • Operate sterilization equipment including Steam Sterilizers, ETO Sterilizers, Sterrad Systems, and Steris Systems.
  • Perform biological testing and Bowie-Dick testing, including incubation, interpretation, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records, load documentation, integrator interpretation, and printout verification.
  • Utilize computerized instrument tracking systems and maintain accurate count sheets.
  • Assemble operating room case carts based on physician preference cards.
  • Communicate with Operating Room teams regarding missing instruments or supply needs.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and Universal Precautions.
  • Ensure proper use of detergents, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete daily departmental checklists and compliance documentation.
  • Safely lift, push, and pull equipment and supply carts as required.
