About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (CWR) for an exciting Local or Travel job in Neptune, NJ. This role involves receiving, sorting, cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment. The technician will operate various sterilization systems, perform biological and Bowie-Dick testing, maintain accurate records, and assemble operating room case carts. Communication with Operating Room teams regarding instrument or supply shortages is also a key responsibility. The role requires strict adherence to infection control protocols, proper use of PPE, and support for daily departmental checklists and compliance documentation. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment and supply carts, as well as standing for the entire shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Sterile Processing experience.
  • Central Processing Course or minimum 1 year of instrument processing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization processes and infection control standards.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and schedules.
  • Ability to work every other weekend.
  • Ability to work 3 of 6 holidays if required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.
  • Active CRCST Certification or CBSPD/CBSPDT Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Operating Room case cart experience.
  • Experience working in high-volume sterile processing departments.
  • Familiarity with computerized instrument tracking systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment.
  • Operate Steam Sterilizers, ETO Sterilizers, Sterrad Systems, and Steris Systems.
  • Perform biological testing and Bowie-Dick testing, including incubation, interpretation, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records, load documentation, integrator interpretation, and printout verification.
  • Utilize computerized instrument tracking systems and count sheets accurately.
  • Assemble operating room case carts based on physician preference cards.
  • Communicate with Operating Room teams regarding missing instruments or supply shortages.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and Universal Precautions.
  • Ensure proper use of detergents, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support daily departmental checklists and compliance documentation.
  • Lift, push, and pull equipment and supply carts throughout the shift as required.
