About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (CWR) for an exciting Local or Travel job in Neptune, NJ. This role involves cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment according to departmental policies and infection control standards. The technician will operate various sterilization systems, perform and document testing, maintain records, and prepare operating room case carts. They will also coordinate with OR staff, ensure proper handling of supplies, follow universal precautions, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Sterile Processing experience.
  • Central Processing Course or prior instrument processing experience.
  • Active CRCST Certification or CBSPD/CBSPDT Certification.
  • Strong understanding of sterilization procedures and infection prevention standards.
  • Ability to work rotating schedules and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull a minimum of 60 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting Operating Room case cart operations.
  • Experience working in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with computerized instrument tracking systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume sterile processing department.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment.
  • Process surgical instrumentation according to departmental policies and infection control standards.
  • Operate Steam Sterilizers, ETO Sterilizers, Sterrad Systems, and Steris Systems.
  • Perform and document biological testing and Bowie-Dick testing accurately.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and load documentation.
  • Read and interpret chemical integrators and sterilization printouts.
  • Utilize computerized instrument count sheets and tracking systems.
  • Prepare and assemble operating room case carts based on physician preference cards.
  • Coordinate with Operating Room staff regarding missing instruments or supply shortages.
  • Ensure proper handling and usage of detergents, disinfectants, and PPE.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and infection prevention protocols at all times.
  • Lift, push, and pull equipment and supply carts as required throughout the shift.
  • Maintain departmental standards and organizational competencies.
