The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the preparation, care, sterilization, and transportation of medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment. This role involves collecting used and contaminated equipment, manually cleaning supplies, operating decontamination and sterilization equipment, and meticulously examining supplies to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized. The technician will also monitor and operate sterilization equipment, test and report any issues with the equipment, and prepare and deliver necessary equipment and instruments for various medical procedures. Maintaining accurate records of sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and inventory control, including reordering supplies and checking expiration dates, are key responsibilities. The work is typically performed in a clinical environment, and the employee is accountable for fulfilling all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures.
