The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures the proper functionality and sterility of these items to prevent infection within a healthcare facility, adhering to strict guidelines and protocols established by regulatory agencies. The technician will collect used and contaminated equipment, manually clean supplies, operate and maintain decontamination and sterilization equipment, and meticulously examine supplies to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized. They will also maintain records of sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and inventory control. This position typically performs work in a clinical environment and is accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures.
