About The Position
Located in Anderson, South Carolina, AnMed is a not-for-profit health system focused on providing exceptional and compassionate care. The Sterile Processing Technician performs routine tasks involving the collection, inspection, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies and equipment. The role supports safe and reliable instrument processing and maintains inventory of patient-care items.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, instrumentation, and surgical procedures.
- Obtain sterile processing certification within one year of hire.
Responsibilities
- Clean instruments manually and mechanically.
- Process instruments through washer/decontaminators and ultrasonic washers.
- Maintain proper load-identification information for items sterilized using the Censitrac system.
- Conduct or assist with sterilizer testing.
- Unpack weekly surgical supplies and send them to the OR sterile core.
- Maintain adequate inventory of sterile and nonsterile patient-care items.
- Adhere to regulatory agency standards, including DNV, JCAHO, AAMI, OSHA, DHEC, AORN, CMS, ISO, and ANSI.
