About The Position

Munson Healthcare is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician I to help keep operating rooms and hospital floors supplied with clean, sterile medical instruments. The technician retrieves used instruments, cleans and sterilizes them, assembles and processes them, and distributes them for future use. The role also involves organizing and storing instruments, maintaining adequate inventory, and checking work for quality and compliance with sterilization standards. Technicians collaborate with operating room staff, hospital departments, and other medical professionals in a fast-paced, changing environment. On-the-job training is provided, with opportunities to advance to Technician II or III.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.
Patience and attention to detail.
Ability to perform hands-on work and take direction.
Excellent organizational skills.
Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

Retrieve used medical instruments and process them for reuse.
Clean and sterilize instruments using appropriate processes and chemicals.
Assemble, process, and distribute medical instruments.
Organize and store instruments so they can be located efficiently.
Maintain an adequate inventory of instruments for organizational needs.
Maintain sterilization standards that support infection prevention and patient safety.
Inspect work and identify quality issues.
Collaborate with operating room staff, hospital floors, and other departments to ensure they have the instruments they need.
Provide updates to surgeons and other medical professionals as needed.
Adapt to changing needs and participate in new departmental initiatives.
