About The Position

As a Central Processing Technician, you will help keep operating rooms and hospital floors running smoothly by cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, processing, distributing, organizing, and storing medical instruments. The role supports infection prevention and patient safety by maintaining sterilization standards and checking for quality issues. You will collaborate with operating room staff, hospital floors, and other departments in a fast-paced, changing environment and help implement departmental initiatives. The position offers on-the-job training and opportunities to advance to Tech II or III.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.
Patient and detail-oriented, comfortable with hands-on work, and able to take direction.
Excellent organizational skills.
Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

Clean and sterilize medical instruments.
Assemble, process, and distribute medical instruments.
Maintain sterilization standards to support infection prevention and patient safety.
Organize and store instruments so they can be readily located.
Work with operating room staff, hospital floors, and other departments to ensure they have the instruments they need.
Identify quality issues before they become problems.
Adapt to a fast-paced, changing work environment and help implement new departmental initiatives.
Retrieve and process used instruments, including processing them with chemicals for sterilization.
Help ensure an adequate inventory of instruments.
Provide updates to surgeons and other medical professionals as needed.
