About The Position

This role is for a Sterile Processing Technician Certified at St. Agnes - Ascension in Baltimore, MD. The position is in the Sterile Processing Department and is a full-time, evening shift role. The technician will be responsible for inspecting, assembling, and evaluating surgical instruments and sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness, and identify needs for repair or replacement. They will also perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to established protocols, inspect instruments for cleanliness and proper functioning, maintain inventory levels, and assist with staff training on sterile principles and decontamination processes.

Requirements

Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Inspect, assemble and evaluate surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and determine need for repair/replacement.
Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
Inspect instruments, equipment and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
Assist with staff training on sterile principals and the decontamination processes.
