About The Position

The Sterile Processing Tech works in Surgical Services at a busy Level One trauma facility. The role requires experience across all areas of the sterile processing department, including decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection and scope processing, sterile storage, and OR liaison work. The position uses the Censitrac tracking system. The schedule is 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with occasional scheduled holidays. The employee may be required to float to other locations.

Candidates must hold either a CBSPD or CRCST certification. The facility seeks candidates with at least three years of experience in a facility similar to OSU. Former permanent staff and return travelers are ineligible for rehire anywhere in the system; travelers who reach the one-year maximum contract limit are ineligible for extensions or future assignments.

Parking permits are available through CampusParc at various rates and locations. Annual permits may qualify for a prorated refund for unused future months, subject to the stated cancellation and refund procedures.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in a facility similar to OSU.
• Experience with all areas of the sterile processing department.
• CBSPD or CRCST certification; CRCST must be through HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM.
• Previous permanent staff and return travelers are not eligible for return anywhere in the system.
• Travelers who reach the one-year maximum contract limit are not eligible for extensions or future assignments.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate items, including drills, DaVinci equipment, and scopes.
• Assemble instruments across all service lines, including trauma instruments, loaners, and peel packaging.
• Perform sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam.
• Perform high-level disinfection and scope processing.
• Manage sterile storage.
• Serve as an OR liaison.
• Use the Censitrac tracking system.
• Float to other locations when required.
