About The Position

The Sterile Processing Tech works in Surgical Services and performs sterile processing duties across all areas of the department. Responsibilities include decontaminating instruments and equipment, processing items through steam and Sterrad sterilization, handling high-level disinfection and scopes, maintaining sterile storage, and coordinating with the operating room. The role also involves tracking instruments through the Censitrac system, preparing case carts for the next day, and taking OR calls for both floors of surgery.

Schedule: 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional scheduled holidays. Candidates must hold either a CBSPD or CRCST certification. Previous permanent staff and return travelers are not eligible.

Requirements

• Experience in all areas of the sterile processing department.
• CBSPD or CRCST certification through HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM.
• Previous permanent staff and return travelers are not eligible.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate all items, including drills, DaVinci equipment, and scopes.
• Perform sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam.
• Perform high-level disinfection and handle scopes.
• Maintain sterile storage.
• Serve as an OR liaison.
• Use the Censitrac tracking system.
• Move case carts, separate dirty items, and fill case-cart needs for cases scheduled for the next day.
• Take OR calls for both floors of surgery.
