Sterile Processing Tech I, Full-Time Days
About The Position
The Sterile Processing Tech I cleans, inspects, assembles, sterilizes, and distributes instruments and equipment. Working under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor, the technician cooperates with members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team. Using knowledge of sterilization processes, the technician begins learning to work independently in a changing technical environment while using appropriate resources and references for processing instruments and equipment. The position is based at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Florida, in the Surgery department, and is full-time on a day schedule.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Within the first year of employment, successfully complete the Orlando Health SPD Core Course.
- Maintain 12 continuing education points per year.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of experience preferred.
- Sterile Processing Department certification or completion status in the Orlando Health SPD Core Course may be held.
Responsibilities
- Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instruments and equipment.
- Work under the direct supervision of the SPD Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor and cooperate with the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
- Demonstrate professionalism and ethical standards.
- Complete assigned tasks using appropriate resources and references for processing instruments and equipment.
- Apply knowledge of sterilization processes while learning to work independently in a changing technical environment.
- Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with applicable Orlando Health policies and laws.
- Comply with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Participate in unit quality control activities.
- Understand the relationship of the role to patient care.
- Help maintain a safe environment for team members and patients.
